Scientific interests: rural sector, agricultural production, problems of development of the agricultural sector, various aspects of regional development, issues of territorial development.

In 2020 she won a scholarship in the grant project of “Soros Foundation Kazakhstan Fellowship program (Gender Economics)” and was a member of the research group of the scholarship research project titled “Women’s gender pay gap in Kazakhstan”, funded by the Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan. She has a great interest in the study of women in the economy in the context of digitalization. She has published in peer-reviewed journals articles about women’s entrepreneurship and gender differences, analysis of the level of sustainable growth.

Kangalakova has 7-year experience in scientific studies and analytical reports. In 2020 she won a scholarship in the grant project titled “Intellectual potential of the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan: assessment and development prospects”, funded by the Committee of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The area of her scientific research is related to problems of regional and innovation development and covers a wide range of issues related to SME and urban studies.

She has scientific experience in the project field, in particular, has scientific work, took an active part as a responsible and independent executor in 2 research projects of foreign grant funding and in 1 research project of program-targeted funding of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She was a member of the expert group on structural economic transformation in North and Central Asia, organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)/Expert Group, Expert group meeting on structural economic transformation in North and Central Asia (ESCAP, EBRD, UNESCO, NARXOZ), organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in 2019. In 2018 she won scholarship in the grant project of “Soros Foundation Kazakhstan Fellowship program (Gender Economics)” and was a member of the research group of the scholarship research project titled “Creation of a research center on gender economics and implementation of a new training course on gender economics”, funded by the Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan. Currently she is working on her PhD thesis about women social impact on government policy. Her research is focused on the study of women participation in the economy and social policy.
